Welcome Our New Leaders
Louise joined Redland Rhapsody Chorus in 1996 and started singing Baritone with her Mum. It wasn't long before she was whisked away to sing in the Lead Section, as there was no denying that her experience as a Lead singer in Musical Theatre lent itself to her being a Lead singer in Sweet Adelines. This proved to be very true when she sang Lead in her first quartet for many years. But it didn't stop her in later years to sing Baritone in another very successful quartet, showing how very versatile and capable she is as an all round singer in the chorus. Louise's musical talent has always been sought by previous Directors of Redland Rhapsody Chorus. She was Lead section Leader and Assistant Director for the preceding 6 years before taking on the role of Musical Director. She has always been enthusiastic about female acapella singing and never misses an opportunity for learning more through attending coaching and education sessions all over Australia. Louise has a very warm and caring leadership approach, and was enthusiastically voted into the position of Musical Director by chorus members in April 2016 when the previous Director stepped down to rejoin the chorus on the risers. Louise is very excited about her new role. She takes a fun loving approach to all rehearsals, whilst recognising that commitment and working on the 'details', is all part of the satisfaction of singing and performing in a high level competition chorus like Redland Rhapsody Chorus. Megan joined Redland Rhapsody Chorus in 2009 after seeing a flyer at a local dance studio. She never believed what the decision to attend at workshop was going to bring. The sense of belonging to a group of fabulous women who strive for excellence in singing and the instant hand of friendship being extended ensured she kept coming back! Within 9 months she joined the Board as Vice President, became part of the visual team along with the costume team (we have teams for everything so we share the load) and prepare for contest. With a background in musical theatre and dance Redland Rhapsody seemed like a perfect fit. What more could she want... |

Redland Rhapsody Wins Open Division
![]() Instead of singing just two songs and being given marks and rankings by the official judges, Open Division allows Choruses to perform up to four songs with additional choreography, props, themes, MC material or whatever creative ideas they can come up with. 50 randomly selected audience members vote to decide the most entertaining Chorus. The emphasis is on “putting on a show” to entertain the audience. Judging by the feedback we got, we absolutely wowed them! Although the judges do not give us official marks in this division, their technical feedback indicated we achieved a very high standard in both singing and theatrical showmanship. This is exactly what Redland Rhapsody Chorus does best. We are a show chorus that adds glitz and zing to every performance. You’ll be able to see us reprise our championship songs….and lots more at our show “Redland Rhapsody Recharged” at Redland Performing Arts Centre in October. |
